GMX referral program explained
The GMX referral program has two separate benefits: a trader receives a discount on eligible position fees, while a registered affiliate can receive rewards from referred trading. The percentages depend on the affiliate tier.
Referral terms can change through GMX governance. The figures below reflect the official documentation checked on July 26, 2026. The GMX Referrals page remains authoritative for a specific wallet and code.

Key takeaways
- 01Trader discounts and affiliate rewards are separate percentages.
- 02Tier 2 and Tier 3 both give the trader the current 10% maximum.
- 03The discount excludes borrowing and funding fees.
- 04Protocol-owned codes and graduation can end payments to a previous affiliate.
- 05Referral status must be verified with a date because program terms can change.
How a trader receives a referral code
A GMX referral link uses the format https://app.gmx.io/#/trade/?ref=your-code. Opening the link stores the code in the browser. GMX writes a registered and valid code to the referral contract when the trader creates the first eligible order.
The trader does not need a separate code-registration transaction. Registering a new code is an affiliate action. Once a trader has an on-chain code, normal order creation does not silently overwrite it.
Trader discount and affiliate reward tiers
Tier 1 gives the trader a 5% discount and the affiliate a 5% reward. Tier 2 gives 10% to the trader and 10% to the affiliate. Tier 3 keeps the trader discount at 10% while raising the affiliate reward to 15%.
The trader percentage is applied to eligible opening and closing position fees. Borrowing and funding are excluded. Tier 3 does not provide a larger trader discount than Tier 2.
| Tier | Trader discount | Affiliate reward | Published weekly threshold |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tier 1 | 5% | 5% | Available to registered affiliates |
| Tier 2 | 10% | 10% | 15+ active users and $5M+ combined volume |
| Tier 3 | 10% | 15% | 30+ active users and $25M+ combined volume |
How affiliates register and upgrade
An affiliate registers a case-sensitive code from the Affiliates tab. Codes can contain letters, digits and underscores and can be up to 20 characters. Arbitrum is the leader chain for new code validation, with valid registrations propagated to follower chains.
Anyone can register a Tier 1 code. Affiliates who meet the published weekly active-user and volume thresholds can request a Tier 2 or Tier 3 upgrade through the current GMX partner process. Meeting a number does not make this independent site able to approve an upgrade.
Protocol-owned codes and graduation
GMX can assign protocol-owned codes that preserve a trader discount without paying an affiliate. Organic thresholds currently assign a 5% code after $50 million in total volume and a 10% code after $250 million.
A trader can also graduate from an affiliate code after at least 12 months of attribution or after generating at least $20,000 in affiliate rewards. Graduation preserves the applicable 5% or 10% trader discount, while new rewards to the previous affiliate stop.
This means referral attribution is not necessarily permanent for the affiliate even when the trader continues to receive a discount.
How affiliate rewards are paid
V2 rewards accrue per market in the collateral token used by that market. Affiliates can claim through the Referrals page and may choose to consolidate eligible rewards through the external swap route shown in the claim interface.
Trader discounts are deducted automatically from the eligible position fee at execution. A site should not describe the discount as a cash bonus, deposit reward or reduction of every cost on GMX.
Code ownership, transfer and security
Referral-code ownership can be transferred through the ReferralStorage contract. GMX documentation states that transfer is permanent. A transfer should be verified on-chain before an affiliate changes public links.
A referral code itself does not grant wallet permissions. A malicious surrounding website can still present a phishing link or unrelated approval. Traders should confirm app.gmx.io and read the complete wallet prompt.
Where code PRO fits
Code PRO was checked on Arbitrum on July 26, 2026 and mapped to Tier 2. Under the current table, that means a 10% trader discount on eligible opening and closing position fees.
Code status, eligibility and program terms can change. The site therefore shows a dated verification and directs traders to confirm the active referral in GMX before relying on it.

10% off eligible GMX position fees
Code PRO maps to GMX's tier-2 discount on eligible opening and closing position fees. The link is sponsored; the discount and protocol risks are unchanged.
Frequently asked questions
What is the maximum GMX referral discount?
The current maximum trader discount is 10% at Tier 2 and Tier 3. Tier 3 increases the affiliate share, not the trader discount.
Does a GMX referral discount reduce funding fees?
No. The documented discount applies to eligible opening and closing position fees, not borrowing or funding.
Can a trader change an existing referral code?
Changing an existing on-chain code is a separate user action. Normal order creation does not overwrite an established code, while GMX-managed graduation or organic codes can be assigned by the protocol.
When does a trader graduate from an affiliate?
Current rules allow graduation after at least 12 months of attribution or $20,000 in affiliate rewards generated for that referrer.
Does code PRO give 10% now?
PRO was verified as Tier 2 on July 26, 2026 and therefore mapped to the current 10% trader rate. Confirm the live GMX referral status before trading.
