What 24-hour volume measures
Target volume is the pair feed's USD-denominated rolling activity measure. We sum perpetual-pool values by network and show the most active pools individually. Volume describes recent turnover, not deposited liquidity and not outstanding trader exposure.
A high-volume interval can come from directional volatility, liquidations, short holding periods or a concentrated market event. Compare volume with open interest instead of treating it as a standalone health score.
What open interest measures
Open interest is the current notional value of outstanding positions in the normalized pair record. It changes as positions are opened, reduced, closed or liquidated. High open interest can increase fee opportunity while also increasing imbalance and risk.
Use the GMX funding-rate page to see how the deepest pool for each asset is currently priced for funding and borrowing.
Why pool counts exceed symbols
GMX can list several markets for the same index token with different long or short collateral. Each market has its own token address, liquidity, open interest and rates. The pool count therefore should not be read as a count of unique assets.
The top-market table preserves the full ticker identifier and network. Developers should also preserve pool_id when storing the source response.
Data limits and freshness
The page is a snapshot, not an audited financial statement. Browser data refreshes every 60 seconds when the official endpoint responds, but upstream caching and network delays still apply. Totals can move between refreshes.
The source is the official network-specific /v1/pairs API. For implementation details, read our GMX API guide and the official API overview.
